Dear Fellow Chatham Democrats and Friends,
These past weeks I have been hearing all sorts of political commentators wail and gnash their teeth over the threatened takeover of the Democratic Party by "the socialists." They are all over long-ago tweets and social media comments from folks like Graham Platner in Maine and one or more of the winning Democrats in last Tuesday's New York primary. I am here to say that these "Chicken Littles" screaming that the "sky is falling" have nothing useful, constructive or progressive to say about the very real and growing Blue Wave in America -- or, as I like to call it, the Second Reconstruction. Don't take my word for it. I have two suggested sources for the proposition that our fight -- by whatever name it proceeds -- is a fight for the interests and needs and lives of the powerless versus those entities with the money and the power. The first is a Substack post entitled The Truth About "Socialism" that Republicans and Corporate Dems Don't Want You to Hear. Here is the link. It tells a dramatic, eye-opening, authentic story of our current situation, how we got there and what must be done. I hope you'll read it. The second is a speech delivered by James Talarico accepting the nomination to run for the U.S Senate seat from Texas at the Texas Democratic Convention.
